CRAFTMANSHIP
This model shows the wood light framing construction of a 2774 SQ FT two-stories house. The framing was made with Balsa wood in a 1/4” = 1’-0” scale.
Walls are framed with 2x6 solid lumber studs and are spaced at 24" O.C as are the floor and ceiling joists. The studs are nailed in place between top and the bottom plates and are as the same size lumber as the studs. With load bearing walls, the top plate is doubled for greater strength and stiffness, and to help with the transfer of the loads from above into the studs below. The upper top plate overlaps the lower top plate at corners to join the walls.
The openings for windows and doors are formed with headers, trimmers, and sills. The gable roof framing pictures shows how the rafters rest on top of the uppermost story walls and how they are fastened to a ridge board where they meet at the peak of the roof. Every corner of the house in this model has a three-stud corner system, commonly known as “California” corner.

This stool is a flat pack furniture system that consists in three plywood pieces. This stool inspired by one of my favorite iconic architects: Zaha Hadid. The design of Zaha Hadid in the Heydar Aliyev Center shows flow, movement, and dynamism in each line, and it generates an energetic and attractive space.
I decided to design this stool with curvilinear shapes representing the main characteristics of Hadid’s architecture. The advantage is that it has only three pieces that are easy to assemble together without the need of special tools or hardware. It is a great piece of furniture to accent a living room or bedroom.
